Wind Symbolism
Wind is a symbol of the spirit and the soul, a force that is sensed yet remains invisible. It
is the breath that gives life to the universe and the organizer that sets the cosmos into
motion, while at the same time holding it together. Wind acts as a messenger, bearing the will of higher powers and
suggesting the presence of the divine. It also heralds change, especially on a grand scale. As
a metaphor it represents the intangible, insubstantial, and ephemeral; things that are
inconstant and beyond reach. In a somewhat similar way, wind can be a symbol of freedom without
limitations, but at the same time can stand for the playful and childish. Nowadays, wind tends
to stand for things that are fickle and empty, and are associated with the spreading of false
rumors.
