Kurosaki Ichigo
Tatsuki and Ichigo (our hero), have known one another since they were four years old (the
first time they met, Tatsuki beat him so hard at karate that she made him cry). Although they bicker and shoot cynical criticisms at each other constantly, they are still friends;
more like siblings, really. They had made a promise when they were young never to keep secrets from one another, although in practice it's been hard for Ichigo to keep up.
It was Tatsuki who told Orihime about the death of Ichigo’s mother; of how, when he stopped coming to school, she got worried and went to look for
him.
During the beginning of his tenure as a Shinigami – a "god of death" able to send lost souls (Hollows) to the afterlife - it was Ichigo who saved Tatsuki and
Orihime from the Hollow of Orihime’s dead brother. Originally given Shinigami powers by Kuchiki Rukia, really only to fill in for her duties while she was temporarily wounded,
Ichigo
becomes more embroiled with Shinigami politics as the series progresses. As a result, his friends are brought in too, including Orihime and Sado. After returning from the
Soul Society, however, Ichigo is intent on keeping his friends out his fights, even if it means distancing himself from them in a painful way. In Chapter 239, when Tatsuki
demands that Ichigo explain Orihime's disappearance to her, Ichigo deeply wounds her by saying that it isn't any of her business. It's a sad moment, for after Orihime, Ichigo
is Tatsuki's closest friend.
Others
Other members of Tatsuki's group of friends at school include Shinigami-in-human-disguise Kuchiki Rukia, quiet Sado Yasutora (aka Chad), Asano Keigo the group idiot,
and his partner in crime, Kojima Mizuiro. These are the people she hangs out with the most, although she gets along fine with everyone else in Class 1-3. Except for Honshou
Chizuru. Chizuru presents a serious problem for Tatsuki, as she constantly thinking dirty thoughts about Orihime. Tatsuki's response to Chizuru is usually to physically beat
her, but Chizuru has yet to learn her lesson. Must be the power of love?
