"Tatsuki, omae...kore ga mieru no ka?" "Tatsuki, you...can see this?" "E? Nani sore? Douiu..." "Huh? What are you talking about?" - Ichigo and Tatsuki, Ch 183
From the start, Tatsuki has been involved with Ichigo and Shinigami. First, she was attacked by the Hollow of Orihime’s brother, and again not longer afterwards at school, and most recently was almost killed by one of Aizen’s Arrancars. Her constant contact with Ichigo and the Hollows has triggered the developed of her spiritual powers: Tatsuki slowly developed the ability to see ghosts, and soon could see Hollows as well. Above all, Tatsuki can also see Shinigami: when Ichigo was called out of the middle of class to fight a Hollow, Tatsuki spotted him running across the track field in Shinigami form. Tatsuki has reached the peak level of cognizance. Although she knows when she is seeing a ghost, Tatsuki doesn’t know a thing about Hollows and Shinigami, much less Arrancar and Vaizards. Orihime was whisked off by Urahara for orientations into the nature of spiritual powers and told about Shinigami and Hollows. Just by chance, Tatsuki was out cold when he made his appearance. Nor did Orihime tell Tatsuki anything; to keep Tatsuki from worrying, Orihime kept silent on the existence of Shinigami and lied to avoid telling her about the forthcoming raid on the Soul Society. At this point, however, Orihime could see Hollows, whereas Tatsuki could only sense their presence. So, although Tatsuki can now see all of kinds of spiritual beings, she doesn't know what she is looking at. However, Tatsuki has figured out that something is going on, and that whatever it is involves Ichigo. After seeing him in Shinigami form numerous times, the final straw comes when Orihime disappears (having been blackmailed by Aizen, her friends' lives for her power). She confronts Ichigo at school and demands that he tell her what is going on, admitting that she has seen him fight Hollows. Wanting to keep his friends from getting hurt, Ichigo feigns cold shoulder and tells her that it's none of her concern and to stay out of his business. Of course, Tatsuki doesn't listen. Instead, she - along with Mizuiro and Keigo - follow him right into Urahara's underground training room.
The implication is that Tatsuki’s spiritual powers are none to minor; she’s no Ichigo and probably no Uryuu, but she has more than the average human. In Volume 22, Chapter 191, Yami comments the only way Tatsuki could have survived his Soul Sucker was if her soul had power sufficient enough to resist him or hide herself. Urahara may not have included her in his deliberations with Orihime about Shinigami, but it seems unlikely that he would have overlooked Tatsuki’s own spiritual powers. Most likely, there are two explanations for this: Tatsuki was injured at the time, and she had not yet developed the ability to see Hollows. Now that Tatsuki has met Urahara, it's only a matter of time before we find out.
