A History of Manga
Go Tchiei's online introduction to manga. This a good place to start for people who are curious about the Japanese market and want a basic history of manga.

Matt-Thorn.com
Matt Thorn is a Cultural Anthropologist and Associate Professor at the School of Cartoon & Comic Art at Kyoto Seika University in Japan. *catches breath* He's dedicated his work to shoujo manga and has much interesting, insightful, not-fan-garbled information on the subject. His site is worth a click if you've read your Schodlt and want more on girls' manga.

PRISMS: The Ultimate Manga Guide
This is an old database of general information for a handsome number manga series. Unfortunately it hasn't been updated in a few years, but it still has its uses.

ComiPedia
A large database of Japanese publishers, magazines and imprints. This is a good resource for finding basic information on popular publications.

MangaCast
A semi-watchdog, op-ed site that focuses on the English market but also has lots of goodies on the state of manga in Japan. Their best features include weekly releases lists of new titles in North America, monthly release lists of new tanks coming out in Japan, occassional spotlights on strange interest group manga magazines, and weekly bestseller lists of manga, doujin, and light novels from Japan. They also do decent reviews and con reports.

ComiPress
Similar to MangaCast, but oriented towards boys and men's manga with a focus on news and industry insider views rather than reviews and op-eds. They also have monthly releases lists and occassionally translations of interviews.

Aestheticism
Aestheticism is a fan-supported online community dedicated to BL manga and doujin. Reviews, fanfiction, update-to-date information, an LJ community, translations, resources, and other like fun. There's also an online store that sells both Japanese and Chinese manga/manhua, doujin, and BL novels.

Emily's Random Shoujo Manga Page
Everyone knows (and loves) Emily's! Synposises and comments on 100+ totally random shoujo titles that most of us have never heard of (and will never get to read), as well as pages on shoujo manga magazines, plot devices, and a few random shounen manga as well. Besides all of that, her collection is simply amazing!

Slash-kun's Japanese Yaoi Page
And old favorite among seasoned BL fans, Slash-kun is a Japanese fan who posts reviews and ratings of the latest BL series in English. Her page is great to read through for information on new series and short stories by your favorite BL mangaka. Kudos!

Manga Jouhou
Manga Jouhou was formally a good source for news, industry watching, and op-eds, but it seems that recently they have been focusing more on reviews. However, they do have a great database of both series that have been licensed for release in English and series that have been scanlated. They have a release-roll of the latest scanlations on a day-to-day basis, but it does not include fan releases of licensed series.

Manga Updates
Another good database of licensed and scanlated manga. They also have a daily release-roll that includes scanlations of licensed series. My favorite aspect of the site is that registered users can keep track of what series that they are reading, want to read, have read, or have dropped, and new releases of the series on these lists are flagged when you visit.
